IMGE presents a new dance film festival in New York called “Kinetic” to build dialogue between movement and filmmaking. Featured are works across NYC, Seattle, India, and San Francisco.

Co-hosted by Ishita Mili and Justin Monte

Each film will be followed by a Q&A with the creative team.

Post-viewing, the space will be opened into a freestyle and shoot session with an interactive AI video display.

Class will be taught at an intermediate level (movement is influenced by multiple styles and utilizes musicality and polyrhythms). Intended for dancers who are interested in learning fusion choreography linked here from the internet to an in-person exchange, and have experience learning in a class setting.

In recasting the immigrant as the modern-day cowboy and cowgirl, musical alchemist Sunny Jain’s Wild Wild East sources inspiration from the scores of Bollywood classics and Spaghetti Westerns, Punjabi folk traditions, jazz improvisation, and rollicking psychedelic styles. Twangy, jubilant, and raucous, Wild Wild East’s restlessness celebrates multifaceted identities and global interconnectedness—the new cowboy soul of America. The evening culminates in a DJ Dance Party.

Ishita chair’s NJ’s first Intercultural Da(nce)y bringing together local choreographers with expertise in historical and cultural dance practices, as well as a unique collaborative performance integrating tap, Latin ballroom, classical Indian dance, and Yiddish folk dance.

This event is free and open to the public, and is sponsored by The Metuchen Arts Council.

IMGE Company Members Ishita, Shivani, and Hanna culminate their residency at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington with an evening show. The program features Ishita’s solo, “Swords,” student piece, “Through the Dunes,” and new trio, "Three Sisters.”

IMGE unreleased film “Necessary Death” is selected at a special AAPI film festival at the Kennedy Center. Extraordinary Cinema: 10,000 Dreams: A Festival of Asian Choreography is curated in conjunction with the Kennedy Center’s upcoming engagement of 10,000 Dreams: A Celebration of Asian Choreography. This week’s film screening presents a series of short films—some dance films, others dance documentaries—all led, directed, choreographed, or featuring the stories of Asian creatives in dance.

Join us for free film screenings outdoors on the REACH Video Wall. Films start at sundown or around 8:30 p.m.
