MANASA is a lower caste Hindu demigoddess originating from West Bengal. She was born from the seed of Shiva and lotus flower sunken to the bottom of a lake, thus making her the Goddess of Snakes. Emerging from obscurity, she was deprived of her righteous divine power unless she could get one devotee to worship her.
