Maddie Jacob
Maddie is a Jersey native who began her dance journey at the early age of 3. She was studio trained at various dance schools in styles including contemporary, ballet, hip-hop, jazz, and flamenco. At the age of 13, Maddie was accepted into the pre-professional ballet school known as The Rock School for Dance Education, where she refined her technique through six days of ballet and pointe each week. In high school, Maddie shifted her focus to hip-hop where she met her mentor, Kenny “Clutch” Thomas, who trained her in hip-hop foundational styles including locking, popping, house, and krump. In 2017, she began her college journey at Rutgers University and soon joined Raps Dance Troupe (RDT). Through this close knit RDT family, Maddie was taught to embrace her individuality through freestyle expression. After a year and a half of training as a member of RDT, she was promoted to co-director and maintained that role from 2019-2022. As co-director, she discovered a passion for teaching new and seasoned dancers what she has learned from past mentors and personal experience.
After being a leader at RDT, she took a short break from dance to focus on finishing her Masters of Business and Science degree. Upon completion, she decided her dance journey needed to refocus on becoming a student and further stepping out of her comfort zone. This led her to join IMGE In 2022, to gain new dance knowledge and challenge herself by exploring a foreign technique. Simultaneously, Maddie has helped to revive what was once an all girl group known as The Lucy Stoners, choreographing for their re-debut in 2022. Maddie is currently working on bringing the NJ/NY dance outlet known as Creative Exchange back to life alongside IMGE team members Hanna and Lex. Maddie strives to be a reliable and constantly improving dancer in all her endeavors while curating relationships to help others overcome their dance struggles.
